Fenland Rheumatology Services (FRS) began providing clinics at Doddington Hospital in January 2010. Initially we were funded for one GPwSI and one Nurse Practitioner session per month.
The funding came from GP savings and our efforts were supported by the Partners at Mercheford House Surgery in March, Cambridgeshire.
In May 2010 we increased our commitment to four GPwSI and 4 Nurse Practitioner clinics per month, following the retirement of Dr Nick Sheehan, Consultant Rheumatologist. Our clinics have a high attendance rate-very rarely do we have a patient who fails to attend.
We are a small company comprising of, Dr Diarmuid Tiernan a GP with specialist interest in Rheuamtology (GPwSI) and Helen Parnell-Berry a specialist Rheumatology Nurse Practitioner. We both have a background in General Practice. Dr Gillian Poutnain Consultant Rheumatologist at Hinchingbrooke Hospital is our clinical lead.

Inflammatory Joint and Soft Tissue Diseases
In our clinics we assess patients with inflammatory joint and soft tissue diseases, recommend treatment, monitor disease activity and give steroid injections in to joints and soft tissues when appropriate.
Our clinics are supported by highly skilled reception, nursing and administrative staff which makes for a very pleasant experience for the patient. We will be running regular patient satisfaction surveys to assess our performance.
Our clinic is available on the first, second and third Thursdays of each month at Doddington Hospital, Benwick Road, Doddington PE15 0UG.
